「AIRFOAMPOSITEONE」は1997年にANFERNEE"PENNY"HARDAWAY氏のモデルとしてヒールに"PENNY"のシグネチャーロゴ"1CENT"が入って売り出されたNIKEを代表するバスケットシューズ。1993.4年頃から開発をスタートし、当時は技術が追い付かず発売まで数年を要したモデルで、"PENNY"はこの開発チームにプレイヤーとして助言するなど深い関りがあったことからシグネチャーモデルとは別で"PENNY"モデルとして売り出された背景があります。デザインを担当したのはKOBEシリーズのデザインも手掛けているERIC・AVAR氏で、サングラスケースや甲虫類の昆虫などからインスピレーションを受け作り上げていったそうです。現在はバスケットシューズからライフスタイルシューズとなり、さまざまなカラーバリエーションが存在しています。
今作は1995年当時のNBA規定である"シューズとユニフォームの統一性に関する規約"に違反するという理由から、「AIRFOAMPOSITEONE」の着用が認められず、苦肉の策でマジックペン"SHARPIE"でカラーリングの配分を変更し着用していたと言う、当時のヒストリーを落とし込んだスペシャルエディション。
